No matter what your beliefs or spiritual foundation, facing a crisis can be a challenge for each one of us.  Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing brief snippets on how to focus appropriately on what is going on in the world today as a result of Covid-19, and what you can do to be positive, successful, and victorious through this entire pandemic.

Today I want to focus on foundational issues.  Just like building a house, our lives need to be built on a firm foundation.  Here are some simple ways to make sure your foundation is strong.

Remember that facts are your friends

News travels around the world in Nano seconds today, but the question always needs to be, “What can I believe?”  Many people today have set aside their critical thinking skills and choosen to believe whatever opinions they find on social media.  This is dangerous and has contributed to the mass hysteria we are seeing.  One example is the run that we have seen on toilet paper.  The store shelves are empty.  Why?  As one friend of mine so aptly put it, “Why is everyone buying up all the toilet paper?  With Covid-19, it’s not like we’re going to crap ourselves to death!”  Humorous?  Yes – but also true.

Now is the time for each one of us to calm down, put out thinking caps on, and search out the truth.  It’s there, but you may have to do some research and apply some common sense to figure it out.

Don’t waiver in unbelief

Maintaining positive attitudes and spirits of help, cooperation, and mutual respect are major keys to getting through this challenge.  Unbelief leads to trouble and worry, and that does no one any good.  Keep positive, take appropriate precautions, and keep living and loving life.

Remember that God is able

God always keeps His promises.  Many times through the course of the entire Bible, He has told us not to have a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of faith, and hope, and a sound mind.  This is very good news and advice.

In times of crisis, we would do well to remember that God is now, has always been, and always will be in control.  He has promised to take care of those who trust in Him, so for believers, there is nothing to be concerned about, no matter what happens.

So in summary – search out the facts, stay strong in your beliefs, and remember that God is in charge and in control.

God bless you all and keep you safe!
